Vorpal for Microwave Devices

Vorpal is a flexible, multiplatform, Particle-in-Cell (PIC) simulation tool for running computationally intensive plasma, electromagnetic and electrostatic problems. Switch easily between 1, 2, or 3 dimensions then watch your model run lightning fast using algorithms designed for the exacting demands of high performance computing systems, whether on your laptop or supercomputing cluster.

Vorpal is capable of creating new understanding in a number of problems in the field of microwave devices and vacuum electronics: such as klystrons, TWTs, magnetrons and gyrotrons.

In addition Vorpal is a hugely versatile tool for studies of multipactor discharges, and can be used to compute cavity modes. We can also tackle multistage depressed collectors.

Vorpal allows you to create fully self-consistent models of particles and fields interacting together, allows you to import and export fields, particles, and diagnostic information in ways that you want, and capture all the necessary physics in the environment. Our stop and restart capability means that you can run the same simulation to a specific time, then change the sources and sinks to play out multiple scenarios after then, enabling you to simulate fully time dependent phenomena.
